While living in the Tors Cove area, the artist was active in the visual arts community, working as a resident printmaker at St. Michael’s printshop and participating in the biannual Sound Symposium.

Lapointe has held a number of teaching positions at M.U.N., the Dundas Valley School of Art in Hamilton, Ontario, the provincial Craft School in St. John’s where he taught Visual Design part time for ten years. During the 1990’s he conducted workshops in Colour and Design in locations throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
