Trinity through the eyes of Kathleen Knowling
An exhibition of paintings, both oil and water colours, of Trinity and surrounding communities.
Painting in Newfoundland is always a joyful adventure. The rich colours, the varied skies, the cruel rocks and dark cliffs challenge and charm. You could stay in one place forever and never lack for subjects. Above all, the settlements hidden in coves and inlets, their houses dominated by the spires of their white churches call me. Their summer beauty, overgrown by roses and dogberries belies the past reality of hardship and suffering.
I think my paintings are about love. Love of a place, love of a history and love of the act of painting itself."
